"You can never have an impact on society if you have not changed yourself"
My Story~Alice Banting
I am a dedicated Yoga and Tantric Sadhaka with a daily practice that is close to my heart. With 15 years in nursing and 10 years teaching yoga, I bring 25 years of experience working with the body, health & healing.
While I deeply respect Western medicine for its life-saving capabilities, I am passionate about exploring the preventative and transformative power of health and healing through spiritual sciences. My approach weaves together embodied awareness, yoga philosophy, Tantra, Mantra and the wisdom of ancient practices with a modern understanding of the human experience.
Yoga has been a profound journey of transformation for me. It helped me alleviate my back pain, calm my busy Londoner mind, and cultivate a deeper relationship with my body and inner world. My personal experiences continue to shape the way i teach, bringing compassion, curiosity and awareness into every practice.
In 2012, I completed my first 200-hour teacher training, a pivotal moment that opened the doorway to a new path. By 2014 after training at the KYM in Chennai, India, I found myself living and teaching yoga in Guwahati, Assam . Guwahati is home to the sacred Kamakhya Temple, one of the primary Shakti Peethas and a revered centre of the Tantric tradition. Living in this region and regulary visiting the temple deepened my connection to Tantra, feminine wisdom and the energy of the Divine Feminine.
My practice continued to evolve through the teachings of Sianna Sherman whose work reignited my childhood connection with nature, magic, mythology and astrology. Through her Urban Priestess programme, I learned to honour natural cycles, intuition and feminine power.
I completed my 300hour Rasa Yoga training in Bali in 2019. Rasa yoga explores the alchemy of yoga through mantra, mudra, asana, pranayama, functional anatomy and Tantric philosophy - bringing together the physical, energetic, and mystical dimensions of the practice.
I spent three years living in Goa where I continued to teach and deepen my studies and relationship with the practices. Drawn to stillness as healing pathway after experiencing grief. I immersed myself in Yin Yoga, completeting my training with Sampoorna Yoga in Goa. This practice opened a deeper exploration of surrender, presence and the potent power of slowing down and listening to the wisdom of the body.
Through Yin Yoga, I became increasingly interested in working with the subtle body, emotions and the experiences we hold in our bodies. How gentle mindful practices can create space for nervous system regulation and compassion when working with stress and trauma.
I have had a devoted mantra practice for many years and continue to learn and explore the power of sound and vibration. I am currently studying under Anandra George through the Heart of Sound India. Deepening my relationship with mantra, scared sound and the subtle dimensions of Nada Yoga.
After many years of living and teaching in India, including a beautiful chapter living in South Goa with my beloved dogs. I am now based in Street, Somerset, close to the mystical landscape of Glastonbury.
